Rentnear wasn't born in a boardroom. It started between two friends who shared a simple belief — people don't always need to own things to enjoy them.
One of us had been running a small part-time rental business for years. It wasn't a company, just a simple way of helping people — friends from the biking community messaging whenever they needed riding jackets, helmets, camping gear, luggage, action cameras, or travel accessories. Most bookings happened through WhatsApp calls and chats. It was informal, but it worked. As more people started borrowing instead of buying, one question kept coming up: “Why isn't there one trusted place where anyone can rent almost anything?” That question stayed with us.
